About Me

My photo
Hello and welcome to a small snapshot of what life's like inside my little corner of the world. I'm Shelly, I have a satisfying career and I'm shackled to my supurb husband. I'm the step-monster to his stylish son and together we have two stunningly beautiful daughters - Sugar and Spice, two stubborn dogs and a squawking bird. These are just some of the stories of my life.

Life's Little Lessons

Today I turn 37. Hmmm??? Let me see 2008 - 1971 = Yep...I'm 37 today! (sometimes I forget)

I'm certain that I've learned MANY lessons throughout my 37 years of life. Some are very memorable, others notsomuch. But ALL have been important - even if they were only important at that time.

Some of the big lessons I've learned are:

1. You can't live your life trying to make other people happy.
2. Not everyone who says they're your friend is really a friend.
3. Time passes by quickly when you have children.
4. Life is not guaranteed.
5. Being loved is a gift you should treasure.

Some of the not so big lessons I've learned are:

1. You should always check to make sure there is plenty of toilet paper BEFORE you sit down.
2. Black, Brown and Blue look the same in the dark.
3. Dark carpet is the way to go if you have kids and/or pets.
4. It's more fun to read a book, blog, or go to the movies than to clean house.
5. There's no need to look for the phone when you're talking on it.

As you can see, some of these lessons are BIG while other's.....not really. But, as I said before, all have been important. And here are a few lessons that I've learned just recently.

1. An elevator doesn't know where to go if you don't push the button.
2. You shouldn't listen to your iPod while you're soaking in your Jacuzzi tub. Once they get wet, they don't work so well anymore.
3. One shouldn't wear Spanx if they are going to be laughing so hard they might pee just a little.
4. When eating Kellogg's Raisin Crunch, you should make sure to chew all of the "crunch" before swallowing the milk. Otherwise, it may get logged in your throat; thus causing severe pain - every.time.you.swallow - until you finally figure out how to get it to go down. This particular lesson is much the same as accidentally swallowing a large cube of ice, except without the benefit of it finally melting.

Is it possible for your throat to bleed?? If so, I feel certain that mine is doing just that. Seriously, I think I have a puncture wound in my throat.

Is your throat okay now? Bless your heart.

    Big birthday hugs to you!
    Amy:)

Note to self: Refrain from sharing the deep, dirty, dark and embarrassing secrets from my past when Yvette is wearing her new Spanx.

  3. Also, you should take a breath BEFORE you try to swallow, not WHILE...
And don't watch America's Funniest Videos with Dr. Pepper in your mouth.
Plus, Dr. Pepper is PAINFUL when it comes out your nose.

    Oh, and Happy Birthday!
